Wine vs. Beer: What's trending?

So after my last post about chocolate and beer I started thinking about and wondering if beer is becoming the new alcoholic drink of choice to pair with chocolate rather than the traditional bottle of beloved wine.

According to experts paring craft beer with rich chocolate can actually be better tasting. The premium flavors of the beer and the sort of malty sweetness enhances  not only the flavors of the chocolate but also the beer itself. Another factor is the carbonation from the beer cleanses the palate, which means that after every sip the chocolate tastes like the first bite!

In a recent poll beer beat wine and liquor as America's most popular alcoholic drink. So beer makers are starting to catch on and are selling products that pair people's pleasures. Beer is not more expensive than wine so if the trend is shifting I am definitely interested to see what brewery's will brew up next.

A Beautiful Pairing

As a lover of chocolate, and since this blog centers around beer (another one of my loves), this news I'm about to share with you got me quite excited...

The makers of Samuel Adams have partnered up with TCHO chocolate to make the perfect holiday gift... The Samuel Adams Beer Lover's Chocolate Box! The two companies teamed up to pair the perfect beer with the best possible chocolate. Honestly this is one of the greatest ideas they could have come up with. So what does this gift box consist of? Well, it comes with a box of TCHO's premium chocolates, along with a variety pack of Sam Adam's Winter Classics brew. Each chocolate is specifically paired with one of the beers and the experts explain why:

  • Samuel Adams Boston Lager® + PureNotes™ Dark “Chocolatey”
    • The malt character and subtle Noble Hop bitterness of Boston Lager bring out the rich, fudgy flavor and malty sweetness of TCHO’s “Chocolatey.”
  • Samuel Adams® Winter Lager + PureNotes™ Dark “Citrus”
    • Winter Lager’s rich, hearty flavor is a pleasant balance to the delicate, smooth flavor of TCHO’s “Citrus.” The subtle citrus notes in both the beer and the chocolate complement each other perfectly.
  • Samuel Adams® White Christmas + PureNotes™ Dark “Fruity”
    • White Christmas is a crisp, unfiltered white ale blended with holiday spices. TCHO’s “Fruity” chocolate boasts bright berry notes that highlight the citrus and wheat characters of this ale, while bringing out the warmth of its spices.
  • Samuel Adams® Holiday Porter + PureNotes™ Dark “Nutty”
    • Holiday Porter is a robust and flavorful brew. The complex espresso and roasty notes of this beer are deliciously accentuated by the roasted nut and toasted malt notes of TCHO’s “Nutty” chocolate.
  • Samuel Adams® Old Fezziwig® Ale + SeriousMilk™ “Classic”
    • Old Fezziwig Ale is bursting with spices of the season and the rich flavors of roasted malt. The creamy, caramel notes of TCHO’s “Classic” milk chocolate balance delicately with this beer’s ginger and cinnamon undertones.
  • Samuel Adams® Chocolate Bock + SeriousMilk™ “Cacao”
    • Chocolate Bock is a dark, decadent beer with a big, malty character, combined with the subtle sweetness of chocolate. TCHO’s “Cacao” dark milk chocolate brings out the chocolate notes of this beer and complements the brew’s nutty and fruity notes.

After reading this exciting news, I right away started going down my Christmas list to see which lucky people would be receiving this. However I was very curious to know how much this ensemble was and where I can get my hands on these bad boys. The Chocolate Box  is available at  TCHO.com/SamuelAdams for only $16.95! So if this interests you go ahead and look it up and start hinting to friends and family and maybe this could possibly end up under your Christmas tree.

(I did not receive compensation for writing this. I just found this interesting and worth sharing.)

Hi! and Welcome to my blog, For the Love of Beer. As I sit here waiting for my Chicken Noodle Casserole to finish baking in the oven, I thought I would tell you the purpose of this blog. Ever since "becoming of age", beer has become a drink of choice of me but lately for reasons other than fun. There's a local bar that serves tons of different beers, both Lagers and Ales that can't be found for miles and also your typicals. My friends and I like to go there from time to time, and even though I usually stick with the same 3 or 4 beers the possibilities are endless. I think the flavor of beer is an acquired taste and believe me I have forever fallen in love! There is so much I want to learn about when it comes to the delicious beverage and I have a feeling I’m not the only one. Well, to those of you are in the same boat as me Stephie is here to enlighten and open you up to the world of Beer, not only through learning the basics; types, flavors, etc. but also through food and news. I invite you to join me on this journey and hopefully show there’s more to beer than just alcohol.

WELCOME!
